Historical Window
AWS 90.SI+ Simulated Double Hung
Traditionally, architects working on landmark renovation projects had to choose whether to compromise on either performance or on the look and style of the historically preserved windows. Double hung windows are known for poor air tightness due to the lack of a continuous air seal.
The AWS 90.SI+ Simulated Double Hung Window (SDH) was specifically developed as a response to increasingly stricter energy codes for the renovation of historic buildings without having to compromise design or performance. The AWS 90.SI+ SDH features both great air tightness and thermal performance.
In the basic depth of 3-9/16” (90 mm) Schüco offers a comprehensive modular window system, aiming for EnerPhit certification (Passive House program for retro-fit projects). The AWS 90.SI+ SDH window features maximum thermal insulation and can be operated as an inward casement, hopper, tilt turn or turn tilt window. A horizontal muntin in the middle of the vent creates this faux double hung appearance.
This window option retains the look of a double hung window as the glazing in the upper part of the vent is in a different plane than the glazing in the lower part of the vent but is only one large inward opening vent.
